德育在于行动 Value–in–Action (VIA)

Discover how Kong Hwa pupils put their values into action, serving their home, school, community, and the world through meaningful VIA projects at every level.

The Values in Action level programmes prepare Kong Hwaians for a lifetime of active citizenship and contribution, involving them in projects to serve the school and the community. Progressively, our students expand their sphere of influence from P1 to P6, beginning with the home and the classroom, to the school, the wider community, and the world.

Our little Kong Hwaians put their values in action at the P1 and P2 level with the Happy Classroom and Happy Family VIA programme, performing chores and duties at home and in the classroom to do their part as a contributing member.

At P3, our Kong Hwaians take up the title of Buddy Clean Ambassador, championing others in ensuring the cleanliness of the environment in the school. They also execute a secret mission in Project Encourage, swiftly cleaning up the classroom of a target P6 class when its occupants are not around, and leaving notes of encouragement to the P6 seniors for their impending PSLE.

Our P4s work with Food from the Heart to gather donations of food items from the school, rallying all of us to contribute in helping the less fortunate. Going from class to class to spread awareness, our P4 Kong Hwaians also educate their schoolmates on donation etiquette, and sensitivities to the needs of beneficiaries.

In partnership with the Council for the Third Age and Fei Yue Family Services, our P5 Kong Hwaians put their values in action through the Intergenerational Learning Programme (ILP), taking the reins in ideating topics for workshops to engage seniors in learning before planning and conducting these workshops for them. Hosted in our school, the programme has received rave reviews from the seniors who praise the little ones for their patience and care as they interact with them over craft work, smartphone apps, and other engaging and practical topics.

At P6, it is time to take advocacy to the world, as our Kong Hwaians champion positive environmental habits in the Beach Buddies programme in partnership with PCF. A day out at the beach, our P6 Kong Hwaians take on the roles of environmental advocate and big brother/sister as they guide kindergarteners from PCF for a combined beach clean-up. The interaction between P6s and the kindergarteners is precious, with many of our P6 Kong Hwaians displaying tender, patient and loving sides otherwise unseen by their teachers.
